US 101 in its longest incarnation went from Canada to Mexico, starting in San Diego at the border with Tijuana and following what is now I-5 to Los Angeles. its current incarnation starts in downtown LA, heads to San Francisco and then up the Oregon and Washington coasts before looping around the Olympic Peninsula to end in Olympia. The sign is flat printed on heavy gauge steel, with completely accurate layout and fonts. It weighs about 2 pounds, 8 ounces, and has been faithfully rescaled from the original size of 16 1/2 by 16 inches down to 12 3/8 by 12 inches .
