US Geological Survey Elevation Marker Pewter Medallion Mount Marcy, NY T398 These medallions or Survey markers , also called survey marks , survey monuments , or geodetic marks , are objects placed to mark key points on the Earth's surface.  The pewter disc measures 2" in diameter.  This is a replica of the actual disc that can be found on Mount Marcy in Keene, New York in the Adirondack High Peak region.
