I am selling some trusty chinos that I want to pass along to someone who can appreciate and wear them like they should be worn. These are perfect for anyone looking for a good pair of gameday chinos. These do show stains and scuffs (but no rips or holes) from being worn to dozens of parties and tailgates, which is fine because that is where you will want to wear these to.
Even with the well-earned cosmetic wear, these still look great, none of the stains are in conspicuous areas and all of the stitching in the crotch, seat and pockets are still holding well- these pants are from the early era of southern tide, circa 2013, before the founder sold to private equity or had a CEO who knew about building things to a price point in order to maximize profit. The result is a pair of pants far more robust and well made than anything you will find from Vietnam or Chinese made vineyard vines or j crew.
You’d need to step up to American made bills khakis or go to O’Connells menswear in Buffalo NY and lay down 300 dollars for a pair of Union-made pants to get something constructed like these. Both of these started life as unfinished length pants and could be tailored down to whatever inseam you are, provided your inseam is shorter than roughly 36 inches.
Starting with the coral colored pants, which has the most staining, (mainly below the left knee and by the pockets), these pants are tagged 33 by unfinished. These coral pants specifically are 2% stretch so the waist actually fits up to roughly a 36 waist, though it does strain the button. From the crotch to the hem is roughly 35.5 inches.
The pastel green pants do not have any stretch (ignore the tag saying 2% Lycra) and if you are any more than 34 inches in the waist, you won’t be able to button these. From the crotch to the hem is 35.5 inches. These have significantly less wear and stains on them, but the right leg does have some blemishing about halfway between the crotch and knee, see pictures. On the reverse side of the pant, near the crook of the knee there is a stain on one of the legs.
I have a set of banana republic 34x36 chinos (not included in the sale, of course) overlaid on these chinos in the last picture showing these southern tide pants are about one quarter inch longer. I would call these both essentially 34x36 pants. I myself wear 36 inch chinos and these have a very slight break for me. If you are shorter than six foot four or so, these will likely fit unless you are all legs.
If you have any questions, let me know.
