North Carolina US Route 321 route marker.
Up for sale today is this US route 321 sign, from North Carolina. Made to the exact 1926 federal standard, as used between then and about 1948 along this famous road. This particular section of the route runs for 105.5 mi. (169.8 km) across the western portion of the state, from the South Carolina state line at Bowling Green in the southwest part of North Carolina to the Tennessee state line near Vilas in the northwest part of the state. Along the way, it travels through Gastonia, Newton, Hickory, and Lenoir, as well as the Blue Ridge Mountains, before the route continues on into eastern Tennessee.
An original of these is very hard to come by. They were retired from the roads of North Carolina long ago, with most of them being destroyed and only a few examples circulating on the collector's market. An original would easily run many hundreds or even thousands of dollars on the collector's market. So here's your chance to get your hands on a fantastic display piece... without

The sign is 12 by 12 inches, and weighs 2 lb. 14 oz.
This is a high quality, heavy steel sign. Accept no imitations that may be one-third this price, but are one-tenth the quality.
