To maximize the chances your package will arrive before Christmas, please order BEFORE November 24 Maine US 1 route marker. Up for sale today is this Maine US 1 route sign. Made to the exact 1946 standard, as used between then and the 1950s along this famous road. This variant of the route shield uses the LeHay font that's associated with vintage Maine signage. Route 1 is the eastern seaboard's longest highway, totaling over 1700 miles between Fort Kent, Maine and Key West, Florida. the Maine segment starts almost at the top of the world at Fort Kent and continues to the Canadian border crossing points of Houlton and Calais before following the Atlantic Ocean coastline through Portland to Kittery and then into New Hampshire at Portsmouth. An original of these would cost many hundreds of dollars if it ever came to the market. So here is your chance to own an excellent display piece, for just a fraction of the price. This sign is flat printed with completely accurate layout and fonts. It weighs about 2 pounds, 8 ounces, and is a faithful rescaling to 3/4 of the correct size: 12 3/8 by 12 inches, versus the original 16 1/2 by 16 . This is a high quality, heavy steel sign. Accept no imitations that may be one-third this price, but are one-tenth the quality. No cheap tin to be found here, with the wrong fonts, layouts, size, shape, or any other manner of embarrassing imperfection. This one will make even the most discerning collector stick their nose into the sign, as it looks that good from that close! I can of course make these signs with any route number of your choice, and not just this style, but older and newer ones, and even the classic mileage, direction, and city limit guide signs from bygone eras. Anything you would like, made with unsurpassed quality right here in the good old US of A. "Life doesn't happen along the interstates. It's against the law." - Charles Kuralt Figure about 4 pounds for shipping, packed with care and mailed from zip code 61833. Thank you for your purchase!
