Crystal Calibrator RCA WR-99A Crystal Calibrated Marker Generator

This is a super nice example of the RCA WR-99A Crystal Controlled Calibrator. It has both 100KHz and 1 MHz markers. Great for ham radio. The previous owner gave a nice, glossy paint job and clearly cared for and treated the unit with respect. I saw it for sale and had to buy it. It’s just in such great shape. I really like learning the electronic tools and also restoring them. This one needed little. I replaced the main filter caps and one electrolytic in the audio chain. The rest are ceramic and in good shape. I replaced the power cord with a grounded, 3-wire cord, and replaced the X and Y safety caps. I didn’t show the AC section after I installed it, but there is a metal shield installed over the AC line and safety Cap area. These were well designed to keep the mouse very low.
The audio is super clean and the crystals are really accurate. The RF is as about as close as one can get. Most people pair a bench tool like this with a frequency counter anyway. I prefer a vintage counter when using a vintage generator like this. Very satisfying.
I’m including a very nice bound manual and the generator is extremely well packed for a safe journey. Check out the photos and my reviews. In one photo, you can see the signal on my Tek 465B and the frequency on my B&K frequency counter up higher in the stack.
Have some fun with it. It’s a cool addition to the bench.
